Voluntary attendance

In order to ensure that interested students have the opportunity to attend the various operational units included in the educational network of their Degree Course of affiliation, and to recognise such attendance as part of the activities provided for in their study programme, and having obtained the opinion of the competent administrative offices on insurance matters, the Faculty, during the meeting of 25/10/2017, integrated with resolution No.80 of 21/12/2017, resolved as follows.

Within the degree courses, in addition to the professional training activities already available, two new types of voluntary attendance have been introduced:

  • "Orientation" attendance
  • "Thesis preparation" attendance

During the periods of attendance (orientation and thesis preparation), as activities recognised within the study programme, students will benefit from the insurance coverage provided by the policies taken out by the University for Third Party Liability and Accident risks.


Requirements and procedures for voluntary attendance

Orientation attendance

This activity may be requested by students to better guide their choice according to their aptitudes in the fields of medical, surgical, biomedical, service, or specialist areas. 
Orientation attendance can be carried out within the academic year (from 1 November to 31 October) and must not overlap with the scheduled teaching activities

in compliance with the attendance percentage required for each type (classroom teaching, elective activities, professional learning activities, internships).

  • Single cycle Master's Degree Courses Attendance may commence from the 3rd year. During the entire course, no more than 4 orientation attendances may be carried out.
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree courses. Attendance may commence from the second semester of the first year of the course. During the entire course, no more than 2 orientation attendances may be carried out.

Thesis preparation attendance

This type of attendance is reserved for:

  • students enrolled in the Single cycle Master's Degree Courses, students enrolled in the fifth and sixth year of their course who have acquired at least 200 ECTS credits at the time of application. The maximum duration of attendance is 18 months.
  • students enrolled in Bachelor's Degree Courses, students in the second and third year of their course who have obtained all the ECTS credits for the first year at the time of application. The maximum duration of attendance is 18 months.
  • students enrolled in Master's Degree Courses, students enrolled in the second year of the course who have obtained all the ECTS credits for the first year at the time of application. The maximum duration of attendance is 12 months.

The maximum duration provided for this type of attendance may only be extended if the student does not graduate at the end of the final year of the course. The extension can be requested only once and for a maximum period of 6 months.

Application procedures

For these activities, the student must have obtained, through the Voluntary Attendance Application form, the approval from the Head of the unit where they intend to carry out their attendance, of the Degree Course Coordinator and, only for "thesis preparation attendance", the Thesis Supervisor. The application form must indicate the intended attendance period.

Applications must be submitted to the Academic and Professional Training Office (GEDAP) at least 20 days before the start of the attendance period, in order to allow for verification of the student's status and declarations, as well as compliance with the notice required by the healthcare organisations. The start of the attendance period for facilities not affiliated with the Marche University Hospital (Torrette/Salesi) is in any case subject to the acceptance of the host institution.

 

The Voluntary Attendance Application (form 1) must be duly signed by the Student, the Head of the unit, the Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree Course and the Thesis Supervisor, and the following must also be attached:

  • Declaration in Lieu of Certification (form 2) to be provided in the manner specified in Art. 46 of Presidential Decree No. 445 dated 28.12.2000;
  • Self-Declaration of Enrolment and Exams form, downloadable from the Personal area of the Esse3 system in the section Registrar’s Office -> Certificates;
  • The General Training Certificate for Health and Safety in the Workplace is compulsory for all students and must be completed via e-learning through the Moodle platform ( Information ). The authorisation for the attendance of entitled individuals is indeed subject to the completion of General Training on Health and Safety in the Workplace, through e-learning, organised by the University in compliance with the combined provisions of Legislative Decree 81/08 and subsequent modifications and additions, as well as the State-Regions Agreement of 21/12/2011). Alternatively, the student can provide a certificate of attendance from an equivalent course organised by another institution. Note: For attendance at INRCA facilities, is it also necessary to present the following: Specific Training – Health and Safety in the Workplace High-Risk Certificate and the Certificate of Fitness for Work issued by the occupational health practitioner.

All documentation must be scanned and submitted exclusively through the Student Helpdesk . If you do not have a scanner, please remember that one is available in the computer lab. In this case, it is suggested to first save the documents on a USB stick.

Any request for an extension of attendance for thesis preparation may be submitted to the Academic and Professional Training Office (GEDAP) and must contain the motivation, the approval from the Head of the Teaching and Research Unit, the Supervisor, and the Coordinator of the Degree Course.

Submitting requests EXCLUSIVELY at the AST Ancona facilities

Following the agreement between the Ancona Local Health Authority (AST) and the Università Politecnica delle Marche, students of the Bachelor's Degree Courses who wish to undertake voluntary attendance at the facilities of AST Ancona are required to upload, in addition to the documentation specified above, the following documents:

  • Fitness for Work Certificate issued by the occupational health practitioner of a regional public health unit;
  • Orientation Training Project (Form 3), duly validated.

Exclusively for Single cycle Master's Degree Courses:

  • a digital copy (scan) of the register must be uploaded via ticket to the helpdesk (type of ticket : “Voluntary Attendance / Attendance Registers”):
  • The original must be kept by the student and presented upon request of the Registrar’s Office.
