Procedures to be followed if an accident occurs

ACCIDENT PROCEDURE

Students are insured by the Polytechnic University of Marche for accidents.

The insurance policy covers students for accidents occurring during the period of attendance of the various training activities included in their study plan, also in the case of activities carried out in foreign countries (ERASMUS). The protection, provided by the Legislative Decree 81/2008, also applies to students in clinical internship.

In the event of an accident, it is up to the student to activate and carry out the following procedure:

1 - Inform the internship guide or the nurse in charge. These figures will support the student in the procedure. Go to the Emergency Department of the internship headquarter. Immediately inform the administrative internship centre, which (if possible) will send a tutor to the Emergency Department to support and to safeguard the student. Carry out tests and medical examinations required by the doctor who receives the accident report, collect all the documents released.

2 - The Emergency Department drafts a printout report, which is given to the student together with the INAIL (National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work) form draft. The Employer is the General Manager of the hosting clinical internship.

3 – Students must draw up a detailed, dated, and signed accident report by using the appropriate form, with a copy of the Emergency Department report and the INAIL (National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work) report attached. The accident report is signed by the Internship Guide and, for acknowledgement, by the Tutor and the Professionalizing Training Activity Director.

4 - A copy of the accident report presented by the student is stored in the student's personal booklet, while the original one is sent, via e-mail/fax, to the Financial and Heritage Supervision Office and, in paper format, to the Logistics, Finance and Heritage Division of the Polytechnic University of Marche. This latter Office is the one who will prepare the required insurance process.
