MEDICAL EXAMINATION QUALIFIED DOCTOR - PTA 3rd YEAR

Before starting the path of 3rd year PTAs in healthcare facilities, students must undergo a medical examination from the competent doctor. Gedap Office, at the beginning of academic year, will communicate the schedule of examinations,  below the procedure and everything a student need to do the examination and in attachement, the standard templates of documents required:

When you go to your appointment for the medical examination, you must bring:

- Allergy and Audit questionaries (attached to this e-mail)

- Photocopy of the Mantoux test report or, alternatively, the photocopy of the Quantiferon test report (validity requirement of the test: the test must be took 6 months before the medical examination)

- Photocopy of the vaccination booklet

- Photocopy of eventual blood tests for IgG detection for infectious diseases for which the vaccination cycle has not been completed*

- Medical documentation in case of health problems

 *Complete vaccination cycle means:

- Measles, Parotitis, Rubella: two doses

-Varicella: two doses

-Hepatitis B: three doses

-Pertussis: the vaccination must be received less than 10 years ago (usually in combination with the anti-tetanus vaccine)

If the student contracted pediatric infectious diseases (Varicella, Measles, Parotitis, Rubella) and has not completed the vaccination cycle because of that reason, he/she must present a medical certificate attesting the disease or, in absence of that, a specific IgG research test record.

In the event of a positive Mantoux test students must, obligatorily, take the Quantiferon test in order to exclude a latent tuberculosis infection (in the event of a positive Quantiferon test, it will be necessary to present a Chest X-Ray report to exclude an active TB).

For students who will go through the medical examination by the Competent Doctor, you can also find attached to this e-mail the procedure to carry out the blood tests required by the health protocol, that is to say: complete blood count (it. emocromo completo), serum creatinine (it. creatininemia), transaminases (it. transaminasemia), serum protein electrophoresis (it. elettroforesi sieroproteica) and physical-chemical urine examination (it. esame chimico-fisico delle urine).

Blood tests are not mandatory and can also be carried out after the medical examination. The date from which students can book the reservation will be announced as soon as possible.

Before the blood draw students will be provided with the credentials to access for the report. It is not necessary to send the blood report to the Competent Doctor, because the latter will directly monitor the exams by remote.

In the case of any problems, students will be contacted by the Competent Medical Office.
